Probiotics are bacteria that live in your body naturally and help your intestines break down food. Probiotics that are the same or very similar to the ones that your body makes can be taken to supplement healthy digestion. Prebiotics are made up of carbohydrates that your body can’t digest. They exist as food for the probiotic bacteria that you’re putting into your body. The use of prebiotics and probiotics together is called microbiome therapy.

About Composition

Streptococcus faecalis is a type of streptococcus and streptococcus are a gram positive bacteria belonging to the lactic acid bacteria group. E. faecalis can be used as a probiotic for making supplements or yogurt products. E. faecalis is a lactic acid bacteria and it can help reduce symptoms when a person is lactose intolerant. The products created with this bacteria are useful for clearing diarrhea and for stimulating the immune system. Products fermented with the E. faecalis bacteria will help to balance the intestinal microflora.

Clostridium butyricum is a strictly anaerobic endospore-forming Gram-positive butyric acid–producing bacillus subsisting by means of fermentation using an intracellularly accumulated amylopectin-like α-polyglucan (granulose) as a substrate. It is uncommonly reported as a human pathogen and is widely used as a probiotic. Its usefulness stems primarily from its ability to interfere with the growth of highly pathogenic Clostridium difficile by antagonizing its multiplication. It is often used C. difficile prophylaxis among in-patients and, particularly, during administration of certain powerful antibiotics (i.e.: Levofloxacin) associated with opportunistic C. difficile infection.

Bacillus mesentericus is a Gram-positive species of bacteria. Strains of this species may contaminate bread dough, forming a sticky, rope-like texture. This species has been experimentally explored as a potential probiotic. It is a spore forming bacteria and produces an amylolytic enzyme (amylase) and protease to activate proliferation of streptococcus. It is also responsible for production of nutrient, which helps in increasing the count of bifidobacteria. It inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria like enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli, Clostridium perfringens, Salmonella typhi, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Campylobacter, Yersinia enterocolitica and also helps in digestion by regulating abnormal movements.

Lactobacillus sporogenes is a universally occurring beneficial bacteria. It is a gram-positive, spore-forming, lactic acid producing probiotic. Probiotics, such as L. sporogenes, support the growth of friendly bacteria and help maintain a healthy balance of microflora in the intestinal environment. L. sporogenes supports levels of healthy microflora thereby improving the gastrointestinal ecology. It also produces only the L (+) form of lactic acid, which is completely metabolized in the body. L. sporogenes is only a semi-resident, which emphasizes the importance of continued supplementation. As the organism grows, it assimilates and incorporates cholesterol into its cellular structure, potentially maintaining healthy lipid metabolism in humans.
